SOUTH AFRICAN POST OFFICE

Philatelists and stamp enthusiasts around the world; I am looking forward to welcoming you to South Africa to the 2010 International Stamp Exhibition.

This exhibition will happen after our hosting of the FIFA World Cup, making it the second opportunity for us as South Africans to host a significant world class event. I am confident that together with our partners, the Philatelic Federation of South Africa, we will host an event that will exceed your expectations. I am also confident that the exhibitions and the stamp designs will be of the highest quality.

The South African Post Office is proud of being a contributor to philately, one of the world's oldest forms of collecting. This pride stems not only from the joy stamp collecting brings but also from its entertainment and educational value. We have, for example, documented the journey into our new democracy and highlighted heroic contributors to it through stamp issues. How I wish our teachers could appreciate this invaluable and easily accessibly educational tool!

As you prepare for your journey to the southernmost tip of the African continent, I leave you with beautiful greetings you will find useful in SeTswana, IsiZulu and Afrikaans respectively: Dumelang! Sawubona! Goeie Dag!

Looking forward to extending warm South African hospitality to you!

Motshoanetsi Lefoka
Group Executive Officer,
South African Post Office

MESSAGE FROM TAY PENG HIAN RDP

The Philatelic Federation of South Africa together with FIAP are pleased to announce that there will be a FIAP Asian International Stamp Exhibition in year 2010 from October 27 to 31 in Johannesburg.

The exhibition hall and the official hotel will be situated within the same compound in the heart of a mega shopping mall. This choice of location will definitely generate much interest. In addition, the interest generated from being in such a dynamic location will definitely attract many people and serve to increase the profile of the philately. I hope that stamp lovers not only from the FIAP member federations but also from other parts of the world have already made a note in their diary to visit the JOBURG 2010 Stamp Exhibition.

JOBURG 2010 has full support from the South African Post Office. The members of the Organizing Committee will be contributing their wealth of experience into making this exhibition a fulfilling experience for everybody.

I wish JOBURG 2010 every success.

Tay Peng Hian RDP
FIAP Co-ordinator
